چکیده

This paper proposes a novel method to deal with the tracking of feature points on occluding boundaries. It can distinguish the feature points on occluding boundaries from those inside the boundaries. It can detect the disappearance of a feature point caused by occlusion during the tracking. It can extract a newly appeared feature point suitable to tracking. For the purpose, we combined an adaptive region-based monitoring process with the ordinary block-based tracking process. When the monitoring process decides that the result of the block-based motion estimation is ambiguous, the motion is adjusted by using the region-based estimation. The decision is made based on the similarity measure of the regions in the blocks in succeeding frames. In order to use the factorization method to reconstruct the 3D shape from the tracking results which includes many blanks caused by the occlusion, we investigated a method which iterates the solution propagation among the 3D and the 2D coordinates of feature points and the camera parameters. It can ll in the unobserved feature coordinates from the observed ones obtained by tracking. We applied the method to several scenes obtained by a hand-held video camera.

Analysis and Synthesis of Facial Expressions by Feature-Points Tracking and Deformable Model

Face expression recognition is useful for designing new interactive devices offering the possibility of new ways for human to interact with computer systems. In this paper we develop a facial expressions analysis and synthesis system. The analysis part of the system is based on the facial features extracted from facial feature points (FFP) in frontal image sequences. Selected facial feature poi...

Motion-based Object Segmentation using Active Contours

The segmentation of an image sequence into meaningful regions is an important early step in computer vision. We describe a motion segmentation algorithm that tracks contours through an image sequence using active contours. This approach eliminates the problems of feature correspondence and feature drop-outs encountered with other feature-based tracking techniques. It also allows accurate recove...

Enhancing the Point Feature Tracker by Adaptive Modelling of the Feature Support

We consider the problem of tracking a given set of point features over large sequences of image frames. A classic procedure for monitoring the tracking quality consists in requiring that the current features nicely warp towards their reference appearances. The procedure recommends focusing on features projected from planar 3D patches (planar features), by enforcing a conservative threshold on t...

3D Models from Occluding Contours using Geometric Primitives

This paper proposes a new method for generating complete 3D models of complex objects using the occluding contour and perspective projection. Using a known motion around the object, such as an epipolar movement, the occluding contour is registered from a number of viewpoints. When the occluding boundaries from di erent viewpoints are projected into space they determine an enclosing volume for t...

Phoneme Classification Using Temporal Tracking of Speech Clusters in Spectro-temporal Domain

This article presents a new feature extraction technique based on the temporal tracking of clusters in spectro-temporal features space. In the proposed method, auditory cortical outputs were clustered. The attributes of speech clusters were extracted as secondary features. However, the shape and position of speech clusters change during the time. The clusters temporally tracked and temporal tra...
